A huge shout out to Jason Vasser-Elong from the Contemporary Art Museum St Louis, as well as Latausha Cox and Amy Torbert from the St. Louis Art Museum for speaking with our 7th grade classes. Each class is learning about the Harlem Renaissance and will be researching and curating an exhibit about an artist, poet, singer, dancer, or writer that was active during this time. These speakers gave our students tips on where to begin when curating an exhibit and lead a discussion about this amazing time period!

CONGRATULATIONS to Mrs. HAND!!!!
HMS Families,
We are in need of your help at home. A recent trend on TikToc is “devious licks” or just “licks” and it is spreading quickly. A "lick" involves stealing, breaking or destroying school property. This trend is happening in schools across the country and sadly, here at High Mount School as well. In the quest for “likes” students are not fully realizing the impact of these decisions. Unfortunately, this trend is one of many on social media leading to harmful, dangerous, and criminal decisions by our youth.
Everyone at HMS wants our students to take pride in our school. We want them to be responsible, respectful, and safe. It saddens me to send this message, but we must work together to stop the harmful impact social media is having on too many of our children.
Please help us and talk with your child(ren) immediately. Students involved in the destruction of school property, filming videos, or watching and cheering on negative behavior could face severe consequences that could include long-term suspensions, expulsions from school, and even criminal charges.
Please understand that a large majority of our students are not participating in such activities and behaviors. However, unfortunately, we have been impacted by TikToc and other social media outlets. Thus, in an effort to be proactive, I implore that you speak with your child(ren) at home to put a stop to this destructive behavior.
Thank you in advance for your partnership and support!
Dr. Beth A. Horner

Dear HMS Families,
I hope this message finds you well. We have received some questions about our quarantine procedures. Rest assured that we are following all guidelines and are very thorough with contact tracing. That said, there could be some children in class who are quarantined, and others who can still attend school. Such decisions are not taken lightly.
Our school nurse (Mrs. Winchester) will personally contact you if your child needs to be quarantined. Therefore, if you have not been personally contacted by the nurse, please know it is safe to send your child to school. We appreciate your attention to this matter, but it is not necessary to contact your child's teacher or the office staff to inquire about your child's quarantine status. Again, Mrs. Winchester will personally contact you if your child needs to be quarantined.
Thank you very much for your continued support.
Dr. Horner
